Qatar Museum’s Chairperson Discusses Art, Urban Planning and Cultural Preservation at NYT Conference. Global leaders, thinkers and influencers from the worlds of art, architecture, business and government were welcomed to the New York Times Art for Tomorrow conference in Doha, Qatar. Qatar Museums chairperson Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani was part of the panel to share her views on culture's role in civic, national and international development strategies as well as the implications of cultural vandalism and how to combat it. She shared the stage with author Charles Landry, UNESCO Assistant Director General for Culture Francesco Bandarin and New York Times columnist Roger Cohen. She discussed her views on cultural preservation, using urban planning to shape public engagement, Qatar’s ambitions ahead of the 2022 World Cup, in addition to the artistic, cultural and civic development of Qatar.
