Albahie, First Auction House in Qatar Opens in Katara

On March 5, 2016, Cultural Village Foundation - Katara launched AlBahie, the first-of-its-kind auction house in Qatar. Led by Director, Corinne Lefebvre, who brings auction house, gallery and History of Art professorship experience to the venture, along with Alexandra Bots from Christie’s Amsterdam, the auction house aims to become the leading auction powerhouse in the region.
The inaugural sale of 240 lots including works on paper, included Holy Qur'an manuscripts, sculpture, Orientalist paintings, enamels, arms and armour, glass, fine furniture and Indian period jewelry. Dignitaries, Ministers, Ambassadors and Heads of Diplomatic Missions to Qatar were present during the inaugural ceremony. The auction was the first in a regular schedule of bi-annual auctions.
Appropriately located in Katara, the world-renowned cultural hub for Qatar, AlBahie will offer Qataris and visitors to the region a trusted way to buy fine collectibles and Middle Eastern Art.
