VENICE - Italy
As soon as you arrive in Venice, the stress of preparing your wedding in the previous months will suddenly disappear. At the airport, you must choose your transport mode to your hotel. Will it be a waterbus or water-taxi? In other words, will it be a small ferry or a speed boat? Speedboat strongly recommended. It’s only a ten minute ride but it’s worth every second. Your hair flying in the warm summer breeze, cuddles with your honey in the cozy compartment… definitely a great way to begin your new life together.
Hand in hand, stroll along the narrow streets to reach your hotel. Drop your bags in your hotel room and then go off to explore Venice – a place like no other in the world.
The intertwined streets are like a labyrinth passage, so one of you love birds better have a good sense of direction. If not, does it matter? It’s your honeymoon and there’s definitely no one else you’d rather get lost with. This city abounds with ornate bridges linking rows of strikingly beautiful buildings designed in the Renaissance, Byzantine and Gothic styles.
Enjoy every minute, savor every step, take in every breath (even though it doesn’t always smell fresh), and make your way to Piazza San Marco. Here is one of the very few open spaces in Venice. Restaurants, musicians, more honeymooners… and just as you reach the Grand Canal, you’ll find the gondola ride no-one should miss! It’s up to you to choose between romantic solitude and joining a flotilla of gondolas, perhaps with music and a singer. It is a great experience at any time, but the canals are at their seductive best by night, when you’ll discover a unique view of the city.
Venezia la Serenissima… Many destinations claim uniqueness, but Venice has proved it. It’s truly a city made for lovers.
SANTORINI - Greece
They say it’s the one essential Greek island that should not be missed. Take the ferry and sail into a giant volcanic cauldron that is as dramatic as the Grand Canyon. Welcome to Santorini!
Most people that visit this beautiful island stay in or near Thira where the nightlife is. Others choose Oia where it is a little quieter, and go to the beaches by bus, car or bike during the day. The sunsets in Santorini are like postcard images, even better. They are like nothing you have ever seen before and for that reason many honeymooners want to stay in a hotel overlooking the volcano.
It is no secret that Santorini is one of the most popular destinations for honeymooners. The reason is obvious. It is because the island is so spectacular and unforgettable and just about anywhere you spend some time together, you are in an amazing setting – one that will be engraved in your minds forever.
Santorini’s sandy beaches, beautiful scenery and inimitable spirit give the island a unique charm. There, you can marvel at the whitewashed village of Fira, capital of the island, with its picturesque streets, perched on the Caldera rim. You can access Fira through an amazing cable car ride, or for the more adventurous couples, by donkey.
The sunsets in Santorini are like postcard images, even better.
NICE - France
Nice acts as a magnet attracting people from all over the world, for a multitude of reasons. Not only renowned for its grace, Nice is both elegant and simple and its charm comes from the exceptional climate as well as its beauty. Even in the winter the café terraces are filled with people happily drinking and contemplating the ultra famous Promenade des Anglais.
Popularized as a holiday resort by Queen Victoria, Nice has an illustrious past. Prized by both the Greeks, who introduced the olive trees, and the Romans, who planted the vines, it remained an Italian enclave until the French Revolution.
The only way to get to know the real Nice is by strolling through the ochre colored streets listening to the “Niçois” speaking their own language (Nissart) and by tasting their savory cooking. Dine in one of the many romantic restaurants available and don’t miss the onion, anchovy and olive tarts called Pissaladières, the vegetable and tuna sandwiches known as Pan Bagnat, the Salade Niçoise or the famous Ratatouille (tomatoes, eggplant, and zucchini stew). The main cooking ingredient is olive oil of course, and many of the dishes are garnished with the succulent little black Nice olives called Caillettes.
Nice is also a city of art and culture and after Paris, has the most museums in France. It is animated both night and day especially in the summer with the Nice Jazz Festival held in the arena, the gardens of Cimiez, and the flower “war” on the Promenade des Anglais.
So if you want a pleasant honeymoon in cultural and charming surroundings, Nice is the place to be.
