Ready-To-Wear Summer Collection

Zuhair Murad

For his Spring Summer 2021 collection, Zuhair Murad revisits the exuberant fauna displayed in Henri Rousseau’s paintings, and reinterprets it within multiple facets and hues. The Zuhair Murad women, both singular and refined, finds herself at a crossroad, between materials that intersect only to come together in a subtle play of asymmetry –as dynamic and vigorous as the painting’s torrid landscapes: Passion flowers and Calathea plants are scattered over fluid silk dresses and blouses with capped sleeves, only to be welded together with exquisite angular cutouts of lace.

The Zuhair Murad woman - opulent and lavish looking – juxtaposes black and ecru cady crêpe jumpsuits and pantsuits with pure and structured lines. Slits are delicately cut out, flaunting dizzying necklines and attenuated legs. Gathered mutton sleeves of silk organza are featured on dresses and shirts with airy ruffles. Cotton is merged with macramé for an incised, jagged, airy finish, welcoming a celestial sensation of fresh air within a tropical atmosphere.

Exoticism overflows through Alocacia leaves, surging from miscellaneous sides, over silk taffeta with plunging necklines, printed on or subtly embroidered. Sizes are tightened, shoulders are stripped and enveloped, and the entirety is enhanced with both transparent and opaque shades of Capirona leaves, accompanied with drapes, cutouts and sides. And finally, for a touch of charm, iridescent fabrics envelop slender silhouettes, creating the utmost unusual and sensual of scopes.

The shades and nuances of lavender, fuchsia, azure blue, emerald, ecru black and gold intermingle, blend or shine alone, favorably acclaiming the glory of these tropical canvases.
